As joint Principals, Camilla and Ruth have combined teaching experience of 30 years in both mainstream and Montessori settings in the UK.
Both Camilla and Ruth have extensive experience across a wide age range of children and are devoted to the Montessori approach to early years education. We welcome questions from parents and carers about the Montessori approach and anything at all about your child’s education at Kingfisher and beyond.
Kingfisher Montessori is run in welcoming, recently refurbished premises in Gaddesden Row. The main room consists of a light and airy space, divided into separate areas including a quiet book corner, painting easel and art & craft area, and nature table as well as accommodating the special Montessori equipment on low shelves which are designed to be easily accessible to the children.
Montessori education emphasizes active learning using all five senses, not just through listening, watching, or reading. Small children do not like to sit still for long, and this is recognised in the way Montessori children have freedom of movement around our specially prepared classroom.
